This 12-day itinerary takes you on an unforgettable journey through Uganda’s stunning landscapes and wildlife-rich national parks. Starting with your arrival in Kampala, you'll travel to Kibale National Park for a thrilling chimpanzee trek, followed by visits to the scenic Fort Portal, the famous River Nile at Jinja, and the awe-inspiring Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and a boat cruise. You’ll then head to Bwindi for an exhilarating gorilla trek and end your adventure at Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying game drives before returning to Kampala for your departure.

Day 1 - 2

Arrival and Kibale National Park

Day 1: Arrival and Journey to Kibale National Park

  • Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you’ll be greeted by a representative who will introduce themselves and your journey will begin.
  • You’ll depart from Kampala and head west toward Fort Portal. Along the way, you’ll have lunch at a scenic location.
  • Fort Portal is nestled in the shadow of the famous “Mountains of the Moon” and known for its lush tea plantations.
  • After a brief stop in Fort Portal, the journey continues to Kibale National Park.
  • Upon arrival, check in at your preferred accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland

  • After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the Kanyankyu Tourist Centre at 8:00 AM for a briefing on the chimpanzee walk.
  • The guided walk will take you through Kibale’s tropical forest to spot chimpanzees and other primates such as red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, and various bird species, including the Pied Hornbill and Kingfishers. You might even encounter forest elephants.
  • You will spend an unforgettable hour with the chimpanzees, observing their daily behavior, including grooming, feeding, and socializing.
  • After lunch, you’ll embark on a nature walk at the Bigodi Wetland, a community-based activity that supports local communities and offers sightings of colorful butterflies, birds, and diverse plant species.
  • Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Days 3-4: Jinja and the Source of the Nile

  • Depart for Jinja, crossing the Malaba border. En route, you’ll pass through local villages, sugar and tea plantations, and fields of pyrethrum, which is harvested for its natural insect-repelling properties.
  • After entering Uganda, you’ll cross the Nile River at its source near Jinja, located on the shores of Lake Victoria, before heading to Kampala.
  • You will explore Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant capital city, which has been rebuilt since the tumultuous times of Idi Amin’s rule.

Days 5-6: Kyaninga Lodge

  • Early morning transfer to Fort Portal, where you’ll stay at Kyaninga Lodge, one of Africa’s most spectacular accommodations.
  • You’ll enjoy a relaxing stay in a breathtaking location above a crater lake, taking in the serene landscape.

Days 7-8: Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • After a relaxing morning, you’ll head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, staying at Kyambura Game Lodge, which overlooks a watering hole.
  • In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a game drive near the Mweya Peninsula, focusing on sightings of elephants, lions, and possibly the rare leopard.
  • On Day 8, start with an early morning jeep safari, followed by a cruise along the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon. You’ll witness one of the world’s largest concentrations of hippos, along with other wildlife.
  • Overnight stay at Kyambura Game Lodge.

Days 9-10: Bwindi National Park – Gorilla Trekking

  • On Day 9, drive to Bwindi National Park, staying at Engagi Lodge. Spend the afternoon exploring the surrounding forest and nearby communities.
  • On Day 10, you’ll rise early for breakfast and be transferred to the park headquarters for a thrilling day of gorilla trekking in Bwindi. This experience will bring you face-to-face with the majestic mountain gorillas, one of the rarest primates on Earth.

Days 3 - 10

Jinja, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Gorilla Trekking

Days 11 - 12

Lake Mburo National Park and Departure

Day 11: Lake Mburo National Park

  • After breakfast, set out on a long drive to Lake Mburo National Park, reaching Mihingo Lodge after approximately 6-7 hours.
  • In the late afternoon, enjoy a game drive around the park, observing its diverse wildlife, which includes zebras, elands, impalas, and more.

Day 12: Lake Mburo, Kampala, and Departure

  • Your final morning will include a drive inside Lake Mburo National Park, where you may spot even more wildlife.
  • Later, you’ll be driven back to Kampala, concluding your safari adventure.
