Day 1 - 4

Murchison Falls National Park and Kibale Forest

Day 1: Journey to Murchison Falls National Park

  • Morning Departure: Begin your adventure with an early morning drive from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park.
  • Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary: En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a chance to see Uganda’s only wild rhinos. Continue your journey after lunch.
  • Murchison Falls: Upon arrival at the park, visit the top of the magnificent Murchison Falls, where the Nile River plunges through a narrow gorge.
  • Accommodation: Overnight in a lodge within the park.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls

  • Morning Game Drive: Explore the famous Nyamsika Plateau on a guided game drive on the park’s northern bank. You may see elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and other wildlife.
  • Lunch Break: Enjoy lunch at the lodge.
  • Afternoon Boat Cruise: Embark on a three-hour boat cruise along the Nile River, taking you to the base of Murchison Falls. The cruise offers views of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at the lodge in Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

  • Morning Departure: After breakfast, embark on a scenic 7-hour drive to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey takes you over rolling hills, through valleys, villages, and trading centers.
  • Lunch En-route: Stop for lunch along the way.
  • Arrival: Arrive at Kibale Forest in the evening and prepare for chimpanzee tracking the next day.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at a lodge near Kibale Forest.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Swamp Walk in Kibale Forest

  • Morning Chimpanzee Tracking: Start your day early with a guided trek through Kibale Forest, one of Africa’s largest hardwood forests and home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees.
  • Lunch: Break for lunch after the tracking.
  • Afternoon Swamp Walk: Take a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, rich in birdlife, swamp flora, and fauna.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at the same lodge near Kibale Forest.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Morning Departure: After breakfast, take a 3-hour scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the Kasese region with views of the Rwenzori Mountains and crater lakes.
  • Lunch and Relaxation: Arrive at your lodge, have lunch, and relax.
  • Sunset Game Drive: In the evening, embark on a game drive to explore the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at a lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Morning Game Drive: Go on an early morning game drive led by a ranger guide, who will point out the park’s wildlife, such as elephants, buffalo, and antelopes.
  • Lunch at the Lodge: Return to the lodge for lunch.
  • Afternoon Boat Cruise: Enjoy a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel, famous for its large population of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife along the banks.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at the same lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge and Ishasha Sector

  • Morning Chimpanzee Tracking: After breakfast, head to the Kyambura Gorge to track chimpanzees in this lush, forested area.
  • Packed Lunch: After the trek, enjoy a packed lunch.
  • Transfer to Ishasha Sector: Travel to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Spend the afternoon exploring the scenic trails of this remote area.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at a lodge in the Ishasha sector.

Days 8 - 11

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake Mburo, and Departure

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

  • Sunrise Game Drive: Start the day with a final early morning game drive in the Ishasha sector, followed by breakfast.
  • Transfer to Bwindi: After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its population of endangered mountain gorillas (2-hour drive).
  • Accommodation: Overnight at a lodge near Bwindi.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

  • Morning Gorilla Trekking: After early morning preparations and a briefing by your ranger guide, embark on the highly anticipated gorilla trek. This experience offers the rare chance to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. You will spend up to 1 hour with them once you find the family.
  • Packed Lunch: You will carry a packed lunch to enjoy during the trek.
  • Afternoon at Leisure: Return to your lodge and relax after an exhilarating day.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at the same lodge in Bwindi.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

  • Morning Departure: After breakfast, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, a 6-hour drive.
  • Afternoon Boat Cruise: Upon arrival, take a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, offering chances to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
  • Evening Game Drive: After the boat cruise, enjoy a short game drive in the park.
  • Accommodation: Overnight at a lodge in Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 11: Safari Walk and Departure

  • Morning Safari Walk: Start your day with a guided safari walk, escorted by an armed ranger, offering the chance to see wildlife up close in the park’s beautiful landscapes.
  • En-route Game Drive: After the walk, enjoy one last game drive as you exit the park.
  • Return to Kampala: Transfer back to Kampala with lunch en route.
  • Departure: Arrive in Kampala for your onward flight, concluding your adventure.
