This seven-day itinerary begins with a scenic drive from Nairobi to Lake Baringo, a birdwatcher's paradise with over 460 bird species and hippos, including an ornithologist-led walk. Day two includes a boat trip on Lake Baringo and an excursion to Lake Bogoria, famous for its flamingos, hot springs, and geysers. On day three, you'll journey to Kakamega Forest, Kenya's only tropical rainforest, home to rare birds and exotic wildlife. Day four offers a full day exploring Kakamega Forest, followed by a drive to Lake Nakuru on day five, known for its flamingos, rhinos, and diverse birdlife. On day six, you'll visit Hell’s Gate National Park and Lake Naivasha, with optional boat rides and bird-watching. The trip concludes with a leisurely return to Nairobi on day seven.

Day 1 & 2

Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria

Day 1 – Nairobi to Lake Baringo:
Start your safari with a scenic drive from Nairobi through the lush Limuru tea farms, descending into the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, take in breathtaking views of Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha from a viewpoint before continuing to Lake Baringo. This freshwater lake is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 460 bird species recorded, including hippos along the shores. A resident ornithologist will guide you on bird walks in the morning and evening. Spend the night at Tumbili Cliff with a full board meal plan.

Day 2 – Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria:
Begin the day with a 1-hour boat ride on Lake Baringo, where you’ll spot more bird species and hippos. Optional excursions to the Njemp village to learn about local culture or a snake farm are available for an additional cost. Afterward, travel to Lake Bogoria, known for its soda-rich waters that attract thousands of pink flamingos. Experience the natural beauty of the lake with geysers and hot springs at its southern end. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Tumbili Cliff with a full board meal plan.

Day 3 – Lake Baringo to Kakamega Forest National Reserve:
After breakfast, depart for Kakamega Forest National Reserve, Kenya’s only tropical rainforest and part of a once vast forest that stretched across Central and West Africa. This unique ecosystem is renowned for its biodiversity, including rare snake-eating birds, various insects, primates, and exotic tree species. Upon arrival, explore the lush surroundings before enjoying dinner and overnight accommodation at the Rondo Retreat or a similar lodge/campsite, with a full board meal plan.

Day 4 – Full Day in Kakamega Forest National Reserve:
Spend the entire day immersed in Kakamega Forest’s natural beauty. Enjoy guided bird walks led by game wardens and expert guides as you discover hundreds of bird species, vibrant wildlife, and diverse flora. This day is perfect for birdwatchers and nature lovers who seek tranquility in a rare tropical rainforest. In the evening, relax and enjoy dinner before settling in for another night at Rondo Retreat or a similar lodge/campsite.

Day 3 & 4

Kakamega Forest National Reserve

Day 5 to 7

Lake Nakuru, Hell’s Gate, and Naivasha

Day 5 – Kakamega to Lake Nakuru National Park:
Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park after an early breakfast. The park is famous for its large flocks of pink flamingos, which color the lake’s shores, and offers sightings of white pelicans, marabou storks, and other water birds. It is also home to a variety of wildlife, including white rhinos and the rare Rothschild giraffe. After lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge, enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6 – Lake Nakuru to Naivasha via Hell’s Gate:
Before breakfast, go on a bird-watching drive around Lake Nakuru to spot more bird species and wildlife. Continue to Hell’s Gate National Park, famous for its natural geysers and diverse birdlife, where you can enjoy hiking or walking while observing open vultures, eagles, and swifts. After a stop at the Lake Elementaita viewpoint, have lunch at Lake Naivasha Country Club, and spend the afternoon at leisure exploring bird-filled gardens or opt for a boat ride to Crescent Island (extra cost). Dinner and overnight will be at the Lake Naivasha Country Club or similar.

Day 7 – Naivasha to Nairobi:
After a leisurely breakfast, return to Nairobi, marking the end of your safari. You’ll either be dropped off at your hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound flight.
